Sediment filtration is a fundamental water treatment option available on the market. This type of filtration is accomplished by mechanically removing solid elements from a fluid stream, trapping particles in a solid media.

Sediment filters can be divided in 2 groups depending on the mean of retention used:

Depth filtration, where particles are trapped in the filter's depth
Surface filtration, where particles are stopped on the filter's surface
